installing e2studio 2022-04 on Debian 11, AMD 64, fails with *** stack smashing detected ***: terminated

Hi guys I'm getting the abort, when I try installing e2studio 2022-04 on Debian 11,  note the old version e2studio_installer-2021-10_linux_host.run, installed just fine

Do you have some virus... etc in your code ?

Installing e2studio 2022-04 on Debian 11, AMD 64, fails with *** stack smashing detected ***: terminated

  • Hmmm, is it for/with setup_fsp_v3_7_0_e2s_v2022-04.AppImage ?

On Ubuntu 2022-04 I used these steps:

    1. Download from github.com/.../v3.7.0

    2. chmod 755 setup_fsp_v3_7_0_e2s_v2022-04.AppImage

    3. ./setup_fsp_v3_7_0_e2s_v2022-04.AppImage

    4. Download from Downloads | GNU Arm Embedded Toolchain Downloads – Arm Developer

    5. bunzip2 gcc-arm-none-eabi-10.3-2021.10-x86_64-linux.tar.bz2

    6. tar xvf gcc-arm-none-eabi-10.3-2021.10-x86_64-linux.tar

    7. sudo cp -r gcc-arm-none-eabi-10.3-2021.10 /opt

    8. Start e2studio and Integrate toolchain

    9. Compile blinky for random boards

  • I just tried the ./setup_fsp_v3_7_0_e2s_v2022-04.AppImage, but with the same result.

*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
    Aborted

So not sure where the problem is, as I said the old version is working ok.

  • Does somebody else has a running e2studio running while you are installing?

stackoverflow has only a hint with

    -fno-stack-protector
but this is not a solution.

    chmod 755 e2studio_installer-2022-04_linux_host.run
    ./e2studio_installer-2022-04_linux_host.run
-> choose RA, RZ & RZ/g -> all other default
=> works for me without your error.

    file e2studio_installer-2022-04_linux_host.run
    e2studio_installer-2022-04_linux_host.run: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=2b28c9d62013e6b5542a1920e2bcc440fa19b8b1, strippe

If you still have your old e2studio ?2021? installer file will you do the "file" command and send me the output?
