"Recipe for target failed" error message

Hi,

This is the first-ever time of using Synergy, so this could be something very obvious.

I am trying to do the following tutorial to try out GUIX -

https://academy.renesas.com/content/CourseWare/3594/story_content/external_files/Lab%20Instructions_STIL10003%20Introduction%20to%20GUIX.pdf

First I followed the steps in the tutorial and got the following errors -

make: *** [synergy/ssp/src/driver/r_fmi/r_fmi.o] Error 1 guix_bias_project C/C++ Problem
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... guix_bias_project C/C++ Problem
recipe for target 'synergy/ssp/src/driver/r_fmi/r_fmi.o' failed subdir.mk /guix_bias_project/Debug/synergy/ssp/src/driver/r_fmi line 18 C/C++ Problem

So then I tried the zip file along with the tutorial and it still give me the exact same errors.

This is the mkdir.mk file where the error occurs -

@echo ' '

In both cases, there is an r_fmi folder in synergy\ssp\src\driver\r_fmi, and some source files, but not r_fmi.o. I am assuming the compiler was either not able to generate the object files or couldn't download it from synergy website? I have had several problems with running Synergy in e2 studio due to proxy settings before.

Any ideas as to what this error is, please?

I am using Synergy SSP version 1.7.5.

Sudhi

  • Hi Sudhi-
    It looks to me like this is a fairly old lab- using SSP 1.3.0. I believe there are some significant changes from that version of GUIX to the current one.

    Do you get the project to compile OK at step 3.6 or do you get an error?

    It might be better to try out a GUIX example that is targeted for a more recent version of SSP. Doing a search for GUIX Application Project in the Renesas Search Bar will show you some more current examples.
    www.renesas.com/.../keyword-search.html

    I recommend the Hello World example as your first one and then the Advanced GUIX example as a follow-on...
  • In reply to WarrenM:

    Hi Warren,

    Thanks for your reply! I didn't get as far as 3.6. The error I am getting is in step 2.7.
    After all these years, I thought, I could bypass the Hello world project - obviously not! Will try the projects in the link you suggested a go.

  • Hi Sudhi,

    For SSP 1.7.0 and higher you have to use a new license. If you have a production license goto your MyRenesas account, click on your name and goto your Renesas portal. Use the license for 1.7.0 (or higher). If you're using an evaluation license then it should be in your {$install}internal\projgen\arm\license folder. r_fmi.c is now an encrypted file, so you need the newer license to decrypt it.

  • In reply to Dale Drinkard:

    Hi Dale and Warren,

    I should have posted a reply saying I managed to sort this out by re-installing the SSP.
    Last time I installed it, I upgraded the old ssp to the new one (there was an option to do that in the installation file - can't remember what exactly it was called).
    But I could only see the older SSP folder name in the installation folder. You can see that pathname in my first post in the mkdir.mk file - "D:\Renesas\Synergy\e2studio_v7.3.0_ssp_v1.6.0\Utilities"; but I didn't have an equivalent "D:\Renesas\Synergy\e2studio_v7.5.1_ssp_v1.7.5\Utilities". But half of the stuff still worked. When I created a project, I had the option to choose the newer version or the older one.

    I uninstalled and re-installed just the 7.5 SSP and I now only have "D:\Renesas\Synergy\e2studio_v7.5.1_ssp_v1.7.5\Utilities", but it all seems to work fine.
