CS+ Crashes When Connecting to V850ES/FJ3 Over JTAG

I am working on a legacy project with an FJ3 series processor, but every time I try to connect to the chip it causes CS+ to crash.

The JTAG signals look fine until the software crashes and all the lines go low.

I am powering the device from the E1 (3.3V).

Windows seems to think the crash is the result of an unhandled exception in .NET.

Software: CS+ for CS,CX V4.04.00
Hardware: E1

  • I would recommend trying to supply power externally, rather than from the debugger.  Also, the E1 supports multiple ways to debug (serial and JTAG), are you sure you have the right connect for the debug method attempted?  If you have the 20pin debug connector this is for the JTAG and is supported directly with the older Minicube and indirectly using the 14pin to 20pin E1 adapter.  If you have the 16pin debug connector this is for the serial debug interface and would be supported by the Minicube2 directly and the E1 indirectly using the 14pin to 16pin E1 adapter.
