E2Sutudio vs. FSP

Hello from a newbie,

I am just discovering Renesas and can see there are two different software packages available and don't understand the difference.

What is each one used for?

Thanks

Kal

  • Hi Kai-
e2studio is the IDE that your software is developed on, much like MPLAB is for Microchip or Embedded Workbench is for IAR. FSP is a set of drivers (flexible software package) like SPI, ADC, etc. specifically for the RA (ARM-based) MCUs. There are two versions of e2studio available for download- one with FSP included for RA development, and one without FSP for development with other families like RX and RL78. The other version does include different drivers for those other families.
