SK-S7G2 Wifi WINC1500 Build error after project generation

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to use the WINC1500 WiFi board with the SK-S7G2 board. I made a brand new project with two threads, one for Ethernet and one for Wifi, with a netx DHCP client in each. I have configured both threads and generated the project content. After that, i just tried to build the project and, there is already errors...

I think it is something related to the SPI in the Wifi part but I don't understand how it works and i don't find documents or explanations for the thread configuration part on synergy. Does someone have an idea on what I'm doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance,

  • Hi Clément,

How did you connect the module to the board? Using PMOD interface? As far as I know, this module requires SPI communication - that's why the WiFi driver requires the SPI framework (which in turn requires the SPI driver). You should add the SPI driver (click on the block "Add SPI Driver") and configure it (e.g. channel, bitrate etc.). Then you should enable the relevant channel of the selected SPI/SCI peripheral in Pins tab. PMOD A interface is connected to P100-P103 (SCI channel 0 or SPI channel 0), PMOD B interface is connected to P410-P413 (the same channels, SCI channel 0 or SPI channel 0) - please see www.renesas.com/.../r12um0004eu0100_synergy_sk_s7g2.pdf for reference.

    Hi adboc,

Thank you for your response !

I connected the wifi addon to the PMODA interface. So it will need the SPI framework. I added the SPI driver like you said and now, there is less errors, just in the makefile. i don't understand... Nothing indicated with the errors too. It seems to be a problem with the makefiles.

    Hi Clément,

Could you try removing Debug directory and perform a clean build (Project > Clean...)? If any error still occurs, please paste it here on forum.

Oh, I just found out ! It seems I selected the wrong SPI driver ! I will test some basic code to see if everything is OK !
  • In reply to Clément:

OK I had a lot of problem because I used the renesas WiFi add-on ATWINC1500 instead of the GT202. I just found a document explaining step by step how to create a new Wifi project on the SK S7G2 board with this add-on : www.reloc.it/.../R17P06DTUM_ATWINC1500_WiFi_AddOn_users_manual_r0d2.pdf
I hope this can help others !

    Hi Clément,

    Thanks for sharing this resource!
Have you solved all the issues?

  • In reply to adboc:

    Hi adboc,

    Yeah, i've solved everything !
I will now work on using both Wifi and ethernet to host a http server. But if i encounter a new problem, I'll create a new topic I think. By the way, is it possible to close this topic and indicate it as solved here ?
  • In reply to Clément:

    Hi Clément,

Great to hear everything works fine. This information, that you've solved everything is sufficient, as far as I know topics are not getting closed. You may still write a post here if you encounter any issue related to this topic or open a new one.

    Hi Clément,

I'm glad that your issue is now resolved. I believe there's a bug on the forum site. Some topics or posts can have a verified answer to indicate that the issue is resolved but some also don't have. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. But if you have new issues, don't hesitate to post it. Thanks! :)
