gEDA Design Tools - Heading for a Big Change
The GNU based open source CAD tools for electronic circuit design are being given an overhaul. The good news is that DJ Delorie (who's work on the project has already made it a significantly better tool) will be doing the work. DJ is a regular contributor to RenesasRulz. Improvement is targeted at the GUI, design rules checking, forward annotation, and more.

We've got four new RTOS Board Support packages available for download. All are Open Source RTOS examples, and do various things with our development kits.

Solar Powered R8C!
Here's a shot of the Rev2 Solar Power board that we're working on. It uses the R8C/33A. If anyone wants the CAD files please add a comment. We also have Gerbers/drill files.
Simple R8C Windows Serial Flash Bootloader
Andrea Ravasio has posted his own Flash Downloader. It works under windows and has been tested with the R8C/23. If you find it useful, please add your comments and the devices you've tested.

H8S/2472 Embedded Ethernet
Renesas has submitted a version of Adam Dunkels uIP TCP/IP stack for embedded processors to the public domain. This version works on the new H8S/2472 with Embedded Ethernet MAC.

Renesas has Middle-Ware solutions for CAN/LIN, file systems, audio encode/decode, LCD control, Motor Control, Zigbee Networking, etc.
Hierarchical State Machines in C
Check out the new state machine demo that runs in HEW on the H8 simulator using Simulated I/O. There's also a versino that runs on the M16C with the GNU compiler.
